Visions of Nature
In this section you'll get an introduction to the five metaphors or "visions" of biophysical and human nature that New Visions of Nature, Science, and Religion considers, including:
- Nature, Science, and Religion—A background on nature and its significance in science and religion
- Evolutionary Nature—Nature understood as evolutionary process
- Emergent Nature—Nature from the scientific perspective of complex systems
- Malleable Nature—Implications from biotechnology to postmodernism
- Nature as Sacred—A diffuse notion in traditional and contemporary societies
- Nature as Culture—A major humanistic approach to nature as cultural construction
- Comparison and Synthesis—Some preliminary similarities/differences, and what implications may follow for science and religion
